Dr. Nabi Oki from JICA Grassroots Projects, Uganda has tasked KISTEC students in the production unit to always keep in touch with their customers in order to have a good relationship with their customers. She said this during her visit at the KISTEC campus on 3rd October 2021.
She said checking on your customers enables you to discover how good the service you offered is to the customer. You also appreciate negative feedback which is one of the best things you can do as a businessperson or marketer.
Instead of just making a sale, good customer care ensures that customers are cared for, their needs are listened to, and they get help in finding the right solution. She added.
She acknowledged KISTEC Management for meaningfully contributing to the lives of vulnerable youth through KISTEC training programs.
She added that KISTEC should not only focus on training youths but also providing technical services to the community of Kagadi and surrounding districts as this is one way of sustaining the institute.
Meanwhile Mr. Mwinganiza Godfrey, KISTEC Executive Director said that covid-19 has greatly affected the growth of the institute as many of the institutes targets have not been realized due to the lock down. He added that meeting the day to day costs like utilities and maintaining institute facilities are some of the challenges the institute is facing. He added that KISTEC textile production unit under the turning youth into manufacturers project has greatly improved during the lockdown.
We have a team of five professional tailors who are alumni of KISTEC. They are doing intensive of production of clothes for different categories of people. They market the products and we earn some income which we use to sustain the institute as we wait for the post education institutions to open as directed by the president.Said Mwinganiza
He added that KISTEC Textile production unit targets to employ over 50 youths in the next 2 years. He however said that the institute lacks modern machinery to produce better products.
Present in the engagement included some KISTEC Board Members; Dr. Byamukama Benedicto, Engineer Jaasi Joseph, Ms. Asiimwe Sanyu (KISTEC Principal), and Ms. Kemigisa Ajuna (Guild President), and Mr. Mwinganiza Godfrey (KISTEC Executive Director).
