Kagadi Institute of Science and Technology (KISTEC) in partnership with Kagadi District Local Government and Baylor Uganda has given out 14 Tailoring startup kits to 14 students who have been undergoing a 6 months training at KISTEC.

The event took place on 4th July, 2023 at KISTEC main campus in Kagadi Mid-western Uganda.

According the KISTEC Academic Registrar Mr. Mwinganiza Godfrey, the purpose of the startup kits is to enable the trainees startup their own businesses so that they can sustain themselves and their families.

He added that training was conducted for a period of 6 months and that only teen mothers were given this opportunity so that they are able to support their babies using the income generated from the skills they have gained during the training.

There are many girls out there who would wish to acquire skills in tailoring and other related disciplines but they are limited financially. I would like to acknowledge Baylor Uganda for trusting and working closely with KISTEC in empowering teen mothers. I call upon government and other likeminded partners to work with us in skilling the girl child especially those that are marginalized.

Said Mwinganiza, the KISTEC Academic Registrar

The beneficiaries of the startup kits are from the sub counties of Mpeefu, Isunga, and Burora, Mabaale Town Council, Muhorro Town Council, Kyenzige Town Council, and Kagadi Town Council.
