Kagadi Institute of Science and Technology (KISTEC) is featuring on the 2023 Year Planner for the Ministry of Education and. Sports. The Ministry deliberately selects changemaker institutions that are making great impact in the community so that other institutions and interested partners can work closely with such institutions.
KISTEC is one of the Institutions that are making great impact in Bunyoro region especially in the area of vocational education specifically skilling the youth.
KISTEC gives a chance school dropouts to join vocational education and gain skills that enable the youth to sustain themselves and their families. This has given hope to the youth especially a big number of girls who were heavily affected by COVID-19 pandemic.
Research has shown that many girls got pregnant during the COVID-19 lockdown and many boys lost morale of going back to school. This increased the rate of school dropouts and constituently increased unemployment rate.
KISTEC designed courses in Tailoring, Knitting, Welding, Electrical you installation, Bricklaying and Concrete Practice, ICT among others to respond help the youth. Todate, over 150 youth have been trained within 2022 only. Among the trainees are 10 teen mothers who have recently concluded their training in Tailoring.

According to the KISTEC Academic Registrar Mr. Mwinganiza Godfrey, vocational education is somewhat expensive when it comes to purchasing training materials.
Most of our parents can’t afford buying training materials for their children. Our trainees receive on practical training which requires us to have materials all the time.
Said Mwinganiza Godfrey
He called upon government and other like-minded partners to give KISTEC a hand so that many youth can benefit.
