In a heartwarming ceremony, five teen mothers received startup kits, including tailoring machines, from Baylor Uganda, marking a significant milestone in their journey toward economic empowerment.

These young mothers, who had previously faced uncertainty and vulnerability, successfully completed a six-month tailoring training program conducted by the Kagadi Institute of Science and Technology (KISTEC). The comprehensive training equipped them with essential skills to create a brighter future for themselves and their children.

The startup kits, generously provided by Baylor Uganda, will enable teen mothers to establish their own tailoring businesses, ensuring a sustainable source of income and independence.

“This initiative is a testament to our commitment to supporting vulnerable youth, especially girls,” said Mwinganiza Godfrey, KISTEC Director. He added that empowering teen mothers is crucial for breaking the cycle of poverty and fostering a better future for their families.

KISTEC’s training program focuses on practical skills, entrepreneurship, and confidence-building, preparing teen mothers to become self-sufficient.

“We’re proud to have partnered with Baylor Uganda to make a meaningful difference in these young lives,” added Twesige Mugisa, KISTEC Principal.

The teen mothers expressed gratitude and excitement, looking forward to starting their businesses and creating a better life for their children.

This collaborative effort demonstrates the power of partnerships in transforming lives. By providing economic opportunities and skills training, Baylor Uganda and KISTEC are helping teen mothers: Gain financial stability, Improve their children’s well-being, Build confidence and self-esteem, and  Break the cycle of poverty

Mwinganiza called upon like-minded local and international partners to join KISTEC so that many youth can gain employable skills.
