KISTEC is 100% a practical institution that exposes students to hands-on training so that they can meaningfully contribute to the social-economic transformation of Uganda. The department of Fashion and Design has set up a textile production unit that gives a practical experience to students. The Fashion and Design unit has got fabrics, students’ prototypes, and fashion charts for different fashions. Students gain skills in the following
1. Price determination. Students are involved in the procurement of fabrics so that they are aware of the pricing and also get to know the profits to be got after selling each fabric.
2. Students learn negotiation skills. They respond to community needs like minor repairs on clothes, sewing different types of clothing, etc.
3. Business Management skills. They are involved in the day-to-day operation of the unit.
